Information For Inpatients

On admission you will be assessed by your nurse, doctor, and therapists during your first day. It is from these assessments that your rehabilitation program will be formulated. You are encouraged to be involved and express your rehabilitation goals. The rehabilitation team caring for you will meet regularly to monitor your progress and review your goals.

Your Room

The hospital strives to accommodate all preferences for private or shared accommodation. In the circumstances that your particular choice is not available at the time of your admission, our staff will make every effort to move you to your preferred room as early as possible.

Television and Telephone

Television and telephones are installed in every room. You are able to make local, STD and mobile calls from this phone and your family and friends can call you directly. Phone cards to make STD and mobile calls can be purchased from reception. When using your television please be aware of the comfort of others. Headphones are available for purchase from the Café.

Meals

All meals are cooked fresh daily onsite. Meals are served to you at 7.30am, 12.30pm and 5.30pm. Morning tea, afternoon tea and supper are also served. Tea and coffee making services are available at all times in the ward dining room.

If you have special dietary needs our dietician is available to visit you if required and assist in your meal selection. Please advise the nursing staff on admission if you have particular dietary needs.

Arrangements can be made for your relatives to enjoy a meal with you. Please notify the nursing staff so this can be organised with the food services staff. There is a charge for this service.

A postal box and stamps are available at the Hospital Reception desk on the Ground Floor. The mail box is emptied daily. Any incoming mail will be delivered to your bedside.

If you are taking any medications at home please bring these with you. All other medications required during your stay with us will be ordered by your doctor. These medications will be provided by the pharmacist, who will bill you directly for any items not covered by your health fund.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours are 10am to 8.30pm. Arrangements for visiting outside these hours may be made by contacting the registered nurse in charge of your ward. It is advisable to ask your family and friends to phone you prior to visiting to check your therapy schedule. Unless family members are being trained to assist you with your therapy or ongoing needs, it is requested that family and friends visit outside your therapy times.

Smoking

In accordance with Department of Health Policy, smoking is not permitted in the hospital.  One designated smoking area is provided away from all patient care and therapy areas. Please ask staff for directions to this location and ensure that you do not smoke in any other area.  Your assistance is requested in adhering to this request.
